Belleville, IL. (07/27/2020) Remarkable racing mixed with a bit of dispute would fill the atmosphere over the past weekend with the POWRi Lucas Oil Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprint Series making their first trip of 2020 to Honor Speedway in Pueblo, CO. After an action-packed feature chock-full of side by side racing throughout the pack, it would be a post-race inspection that would decide the racing fates with rookie TJ Trengrove declared the feature victor.
Early racing accomplishments for the POWRi RMLS’s would see #24B Johnny Boos, and #5 TJ Trengrove each claiming heat race victories setting the stage for the full-field feature event. Starting with a bang, the front-runners would battle early with a lap two caution flying when several cars tangled all vying for the same inside line. After the race was restarted #24 B Johnny Boos would grab the lead never relinquishing the top position. With great battle brewing thru the field, a late-race mishap from the #39X Dakota Dillin would again bunch the field back together.
Dillin would make contact with the backstretch wall, breaking off a wheel in the process, that was eventually run over by #26 Chris Crowder. Dillin was unable to rejoin the field as Crowder was able to rally, making repairs and rejoining the field in competition. When the checkers were thrown, the #24B of Boos would appear to be the winner but was disqualified for a rule’s violation in post-race inspection. Rookie TJ Trengrove would be declared the winner followed by the #17 Dave McCray and #10 Ken Brown rounding out the podium. #9F Andy Flood would place fourth with #26 Chris Crowder driving his way back to place fifth.
