Scotty Thiel drove the #64 STM Sprint Car to another top 5 finish Friday night at the Manitowoc County Speedway and also Saturday night at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds.
Friday night at the Manitowoc County Speedway, Scotty drew a 50 pill which set him to start 8th in the heat race event. After taking the green, Thiel moved up a few spots and held the 6th position for a few laps until a caution came out for a car slowing on the backstretch. On the restart, Scotty jumped ahead and grabed the 4th position and charged forward and grabbed the 3rd place spot on the final lap. That finish would place Thiel in the 10th starting position for the nights 30 lap A-Main event.
The field took the green flag and Scotty began to take charge and move forward. Thiel worked the top side of the track and made the bottom side work a few laps as well. A caution came out with only 5 laps in the race and after returning to green, Thiel was sitting in the 5th place spot. The race would then go green to checkered and rounded out the night with a solid top 5 finsih. After the race, the crew discovered that the right rear tire had lost a significant amount of air pressure which Scotty had made mention that the car was getting super tight.
Saturday night at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds, Thiel picked an 18 pill which set him to start the heat race event in the 4th place starting position. The track became very dry and slick and at the green, Scotty got into the 3rd place position. The race would go green to checkered and Thiel finsihed 3rd and yet again would start the night's 25 lap A-main event in the 10th place position.
After taking the green, Thiel worked the very high side cushion and gained several spots in the first few laps. A caution came out early on for a car spinning off the track. Thiel found himself in the 5th position and maintained that spot for the next several laps. With 5 to go, Scotty worked lap traffic to his advantage and grabbed two more positions and taking the checkered flag in the 3rd place position. "It was a solid run, we had another right rear issue tonight makin the car a handful but we still managed." Thiel stated after the A-Main.
