Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (July 14, 2020) – Danny Sams III tied the second-best result of his career during Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition last Saturday when the series visited Riverside International Speedway.

The Sams LaMountain Racing driver overcame a mid-race crash before capturing a 13th-place result in his first race at the track since October 2017.

“I’m very happy,” he said. “It was a good points night. It felt good to move forward in the heat race and rebound after an unfortunate accident in the feature.”

Sams III hustled from seventh to fourth place in a heat race, which earned enough points to lock into the 11th starting spot for the main event.

“We had a good start to the night,” he said. “I felt more comfortable being at a place we knew. We had an idea of what to do before we went out.

“I ran around 11th for the first part of the feature before two cars got together in front of me. I clipped one and spun.”

Sams III restarted at the back of the pack and rallied to finish 13th. It marked his second 13th-place run in his last three races with the series. He now ranks 12th in the championship standings – only 16 points out of the top 10.

This weekend’s plan features a debut at two tracks. Sams III will head to U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., on Friday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour before making his first career start at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Saturday.

“I’m very excited and hope to keep the momentum rolling,” he said. “It will be good to get my debut at Knoxville out of the way before the 360 Knoxville Nationals next month.”
