Lonnie Wheatley, CHATHAM, La. (July 3, 2011) – Marshall Skinner made it two Smiley’s Racing Products ASCS Gulf South wins in as many nights by racing to victory lane in Sunday’s 25-lap main event at Jones Motor Speedway.
In addition to the $2,000 winner’s share, the West Memphis, AR, shoe picked up an extra $500 bonus for topping two legs of the ASCS Gulf South Fourth of July weekend triple in Louisiana and Mississippi.
After starting fourth, Skinner drove Bobby Sparks’ No. 91 entry to victory lane in front of sixth-starter Gary Wright, with George White surging back to the top of the championship point charts by claiming the show position.
Aaron Reutzel and Travis Rilat rounded out the top five, with pole starter Scottie McDonald, 15th-starter Travis Elliott, Zach Pringle, Bean Elliott and Channin Tankersley completing the top ten.
After entering the night with the points lead, two-time and defending series champion Ray Allen Kulhanek left the weekend with a two-point deficit to White following a 12th-place run in Sunday’s main event.
Cody Gardner, Joshua Hodges, Skinner and Bean Elliott topped heat race action for the 31-car field, with Travis Elliott winning the “B” Main.
