Saturday night during the final night of the Howard Kaeding Classic, Evan Suggs bested the field of 27 King of the West Sprint Cars as he captured his first career KWS win.
Another gorgeous day greeted the teams and fans for what would be a memorable night of racing.
With the feature event getting underway, it was Friday night winner, Tommy Tarlton, getting the jump over Suggs to grab the early lead.
Out in front, Tarlton quickly raced off to an early lead, before a lap three caution bunched the field up for a double file restart.
When the action resumed, fans were treated to 13 straight laps of high paced action on the slicked off surface.
Tarlton raced to nearly a straight away lead over Tim Kaeding, Evan Suggs, and Willie Croft as the yellow waved on lap 16 as the leaders were in heavy traffic.
The double file restart on lap 16 went a little different then the earlier starts. Rather then pulling away from the field as he had during the early portion of the event, Tarlton was unable to motor away from Kaeding, Suggs, and Croft.
As TK hung his right rear over the turn one cushion on the 17th lap, Suggs was able to get under him and take over the second as he began working the bottom of the track pressuring Tarlton.
On the 19th lap, Suggs used a text book slide job in the first set of turns to put his Suggs Motorsports mount in the lead spot with just 11 markers remaining.
Behind Suggs, Croft was to able to get under Tarlton as he began pressuring Suggs as traffic was again a factor.
Behind the leaders, Bobby Mcmahan was able to grab the fourth spot from TK, as him and Tarlton were able to get under Croft as he went too high exiting the fourth turns.
As Croft made his way back to the racing grove, contact was made to his machine, and he fell back to the sixth position.
With the checkered flag waving, it was Suggs leading the field to the stripe for the first time in his career with the KWS. Following him were Tarlton, McMahan, TK, Jason Statler, Kurt Nelson, Willie Croft, Sanders, BK, and Rico Abreu rounding out the top ten.
The night started off with Tarlton turning the fastest lap in qualifications. Heat race wins went to Tarlton, Suggs, TK and Croft. Brent Bjork won the B-main and Evan Suggs won the dash.
