Inside Line Promotions – BULLS GAP, Tenn. (July 1, 2020) – Greg Wilson captured his fourth top-10 outing of the season during Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions competition last Saturday at Volunteer Speedway.
It marked the first since October 2010 that Wilson and his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics, DNC Hydraulics and Gear Off Road sponsored team visited the high-banked oval, where he qualified 11th quickest overall and placed second in a heat race to garner the 10th starting position for the main event.
“I feel like we had a good night,” he said. “I wish we got a second night there because of the gains we made, but it rained out on Sunday.”
Wilson battled for a top 10 throughout the feature before ending 10th. It was his 11th top 10 of the season overall.
He also raced with the All Stars last Wednesday at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa., where the previous night got off to a rough start before he capped the race night with a rally from 13th to eighth in the B Main.
“Not to make excuses, but we got ready to leave for Port Royal and the door on our trailer broke about 8 at night,” he said. “I went to Port Royal with three and a half hours of sleep. I literally slept through the drivers meeting. That was how the whole deal played out. By the end of the night we made a lot of changes and showed good speed, but we chased things a little bit.”
Next up is Ohio Sprint Speedweek, which features nine All Star races in a 10-day span beginning this Friday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio.
“Ohio Speedweek, other than the cancelled Kings Royal, is probably my second favorite time,” he said. “It’s in our backyard and ever since I was a little kid Speedweek has been one of our vacations. To be a part of that and do it after all these years, I look forward to it. It’s a pretty cool time to race sprint cars in the state of Ohio.”
