Belleville, IL. (06/22/2020) The POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lighting Sprints made a return visit to the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks North Dakota on Friday, June 19th, to tackle the action track or better known to sprint car fans around the country as "the Bullring" followed by a return visit to Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday, June 20th to wrap up their weekend of racing.
Friday’s Feature would witness young Bryce Haugeberg take off and lead the field from the drop of the green flag, along with veteran driver Alan Truscinski hot on the rear bumper of the Haugeberg machine. Truscinski made several attempts to find room under Haugeberg and at one point was able to make an aggressive move to take the top spot from Haugeberg, however, that was short-lived as before the lap was completed a caution came out for Parker Monroe slowing the field and resetting the lineup putting Haugeberg back in the lead. Haugeberg was able to get a great restart and despite the veteran, Truscinski trying relentlessly to get the top spot. Haugeberg would hang on to the lead and take his Hyper Chassis to the checkered flag at "The Bullring" marking Haugeberg's hard-earned first feature victory.
In the final appearance at the Devils Lake Speedway, possibly until the season finale in September, Saturday, June 20th would again witness outstanding POWRi MKLS racing. With a strong field of lighting sprints and much different track conditions than the previous two weeks, the feature would get off to a crazy start as Kelsi Pederson charged from the sixth place starting spot on the high side passing 3 cars in the first lap. Sweeping the boards by winning her heat and third feature of the season Pederson was in true dominating form. Rounding out the top five were Alan Truscinski (placing 2nd, two nights in a row) and a season-best 3rd palace for Cody Swenson of Middle River, followed by Jason Berg & Alex Truscinski.
The POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint Series along with the NLSA return to the extremely fast Red River Valley Speedway again this Friday night. Point Leader Kelsi Pederson, the winner of the feature in Devils Lake this past Saturday, gained the feature victory two weeks ago at the West Fargo, ND track, and hopes to put her #93 back in victory lane at the Red River Valley Speedway with racing action beginning at 7 pm.
