Dusty Ballenger was the fourth different leader in Saturday’s main event for the Cressman Sanitation IMCA sprint cars. The Harrisburg, South Dakota, driver would lead the final five laps of the feature to get his first win of the year, and win 23 of his career at I-90 Speedway.
Micah Slendy was the initial leader before losing the top spot to Brant O’Banion on lap two. O’Banion then exited the track with a mechanical failure and handed the lead back to Slendy. From there, Slendy would lead until lap six when Elliot Amdahl took over the top spot.
Amdahl held a steady leader as he sliced his way through traffic until something broke on the #51A. That was the break Ballenger needed as the ninth position starter went to the checkered.
Second at the line was Nate Barger who had started outside row 7. Christopher Thram, Bryan Park and Casey Abbas completed the top five.
The record book changed again with the Late Model Street Stock victory. Craig Hanish extended his all-time record for wins at the track. The Sioux Falls driver led every lap of the feature for career win 51.
The defending champions in the B-Modifieds and Hobby Stocks showed their skills by each taking a win. Brock Hess won his second B-Modified feature of the year while Dustin Gulbrandson took his third win in the hobby stock class.
I-90 Speedway’s racing this coming Saturday will feature the same classes of the Paramount Racing Series plus the RepairableVehicles.com Tri-State Late Models.
