Inside Line Promotions – FARMINGTON, Mo. (May 28, 2020) – The Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions season has arrived for Greg Wilson, who was recently announced as one of 11 full-time competitors this year.
“The series has always been good for me,” he said. “Even the years we didn’t do it I’ve felt like I’ve been a supporter of it. It fits teams like mine. With the quality of cars of the 11 guys following it will be one of the toughest years they’ve had in a while. It’s pretty cool to be a part of that.”
Wilson and his Hercules Tires, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics and Gear Off Road backed team kick off the points-paying season this Friday and Saturday at Park Jefferson International Speedway in North Sioux City, S.D.
“That will be a new track for us,” Wilson said. “There will be quite a few that we haven’t been to. We used last weekend to try quite a bit of stuff. Now hopefully we have a better idea as we get going with the All Star deal. We’re just ready to get going.”
This weekend marks the first two of 11 races in a 17-day stretch with trips to Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas and Louisiana on tap in early June.
“I always feel we do better as the year goes on,” Wilson said. “It’s going to be nice to get racing and go back-to-back-to-back to get in a groove. I always feel like that’s helped us. I’ve been to Devil’s Bowl, to Wichita, to Kilgore, to the track in Louisiana. Easily more than half of them will be new for us.”
Wilson competed with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series last Friday and Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., where 60-plus drivers invaded the high-banked oval.
“We knew that’d be about as tough of a field as you’d see whether it’s the Knoxville Nationals or Kings Royal or that weekend,” he said. “We ran a couple of different situations. I feel our whole deal is qualifying. We struggled there. From the inside we felt we have a better idea what not to do moving forward. Then we went out Sunday and changed the car around a bunch. Up until we rained out I felt we were pretty good there.”
Wilson capped the weekend by visiting St. Francois County Raceway on Sunday. He won a heat race before the remainder of the program rained out.
