Bryan Hulbert – TULSA, Okla. (May 27, 2020) Taking on Port City Raceway this past weekend with the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship, Blake Hahn fell short of advancing to the A-Feature both nights. While not happy with the performance, Hahn walked away knowing where he needs to improve.
Ninth in the B-Feature Friday night after winning the C-Feature, Saturday saw the Oil Fire Whiskey No. 52 missing the transfer to the A-Feature by one spot.
“Racing, we were fine, but I screwed myself up with my qualifying. Not putting myself in the right position, I was buried and just didn’t dig myself out fast enough,” explained Hahn. “When I have that car to chase, or I know I’m being chased it makes a difference. Being on the track by myself, for some reason, I don’t push the car as hard and that’s when I need to drive to the point of barely hanging on.”
Looking to his next chance to get behind the wheel, Hahn has several options close to home at POWRi Midgets, and ASCS Sooner all have shows within a couple of hours of the team’s shop.
“Right now, we’re not sure what we’re going to do. I might do both, but it just depends. A lot of it is going to depend on the weather. We’re also getting ready for the All-Star swing through here next week, so we might just take time off and focus on that.”
The 2020 season is Blake Hahn’s 18th year of racing. Starting in Jr. Sprints at the Tulsa Shootout, Hahn has progressed through the ranks with over 90 victories across Micros, Midgets, and Sprint Cars. For continued updates on Blake Hahn Racing, log onto http://www.blakehahnracing.com.
