PENNGROVE, CA 6-18-11) – After surviving a crash filled “Wild Winged Wednesday” in round five at Placerville Speedway, Penngrove sprint car driver Alissa Geving and her Chicko Motorsports race team are locked and loaded and ready to continue their quest towards the 2011 Civil War Sprint Car Series Championship this Saturday in the mountain town of Quincy. The event is round six of the 14 race series and takes place at the scenic American Valley Speedway.
“It’s always a pleasure to go up and race at Quincy,” said Geving. “It’s really unique track and we only get to get there once a year so I’m looking forward to it again. We’ve done pretty well there in the past.”
Entering the sixth round of the California series for winged 360 cubic inch sprint cars, Geving maintains a fifth place position in the series point standings. She is currently just three points behind fourth place driver and two time champion Sean Becker and sits 24-points behind point leader Andy Forsberg. Over the 5 races that have taken place in the tour, a total of 71 drivers have earned points in the series.
“I’m really happy with way we have been running this year and getting up into the top five early in the season,” said Geving. “This is a very competitive series and you don’t want to have to work your way up in the point standings as the season goes on because it only gets tougher in the summer months.”
In her most recent event at Placerville, Geving used her skills of great patience and poise to remain out of harm’s way in an event that was plagued with accidents and caution flags. In qualifying she drove her Tillett Tool, A1A Performance Muffler, Pit Stop USA #3x A.R.T Chassis to the 20th position with a 10:960.
After finishing third in the final heat race of the evening, Geving secured a starting position in the 30-lap feature, avoiding any additional preliminary events that were populated with caution flags and accidents. For Geving, the A-feature was also very challenging as she was forced to slice and dice her way around the banked quarter mile to avoid a myriad of spins and spills that took place.
Starting 15th in the field, Geving ended her night with a 13th place finish. As she enters the sixth segment of the series, Geving has two heat race victories in the Civil War Series, two top ten finishes and two top five finishes.

In addition to being fifth in the Civil War Sprint Car Series. Geving continues to lead the point standings at her home track of Petaluma Speedway. The third generation driver is seeking a third championship at the track both her father, Gary Geving, and her grandfather Leroy Geving, both had great success.
