Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 12, 2020) – Mason Daniel is looking to make the most out of a weekend away from World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competition.

Daniel plans on heading to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., this Friday and Saturday for the Great Lakes Shootout presented by Tweeter Contracting and Harvey’s Five Star Roofing. The unsanctioned doubleheader will provide him an opportunity to test ways to loosen a sprint car that has been extremely tight this season.

“We’re trying to figure out this car, which is super tight,” he said. “We have to race to figure it out so this weekend is a lucky break because it’s not a points race. That gives us two nights to work on it without the pressure of points racing.”

Daniel’s best outing at Jackson Motorplex was a run from 22nd to seventh during a 360ci winged sprint car event last season. He followed that with an eighth-place performance a week later.

“We’re looking forward to heading to a track where we’ve run well,” he said. “We battled a tight car in Florida (in February) and we battled that at Knoxville last Friday. Hopefully we can gain on it this weekend.”

Daniel raced with the World of Outlaws last Friday at Knoxville Raceway, where he made his first start since Feb. 9. The tight race car hampered him in qualifying as he timed in 21st quickest in his group. That lined him up in the last row of a heat race.

“We moved some stuff around for the heat race and that seemed to help,” he said. “We went further for the C Main and it made it worse. Not qualifying well puts you behind so it was a tough hill to climb. The goal for this weekend is to get closer to the balance we like prior to the next World of Outlaws event.”
