Merrill, MI – With 33 cars registered for the Great Lakes SIM Racing Series first race of a 12 week league, Justin D Clark (Hamersville, OH) holds off Max Stambaugh (Elida, OH) for the 35 lap win at the Knoxville Speedway Sunday night.

Clark also set Super Clean Quick Time with a 15.97 second lap. Stambaugh, Trevor Berry (Clio, MI), Travis Oldfield and Mike Keegan (Fremont, OH) rounded out the top five qualifiers.

In the Engler Machine & Tool Heat 1, Tyler Street (Fredericktown, OH) takes home the win, leading all 8 laps. Clark, Keegan and Brendon Cascadden (Traverse City, MI) round out the top 4 finishers and automatically transferring to the A-Main.

Mason Hannagan (Pittsboro, IN) takes home the win in the Kistler Engines and Race Parts Heat 2. Hannagan led all 8 laps and was closely followed by Stambaugh, Ty Williams (Parma, MI) and Tylar Rankin (Coldwater, MI) rounding out the top 4.

The Campbell Performance Heat 3 was won by Trevor Berry (Clio, MI). Berry took the lead in the 6th lap holding off Matt Najacht to the checkered flag. Donald Swanson and Thomas Schinderle rounded out the 4 transfer spots.
David Diller (Elida, OH) led all 8 laps to take the win in the Specialty Fuels & Logistics Hear race 4. Jim Turner moved up from 5th to hold on for 2nd place with Dan McCarron (Dundee, MI) and Kyle Sauder (Archbold, OH) rounding out the top 4 spots.

In the Addvanced Heating & Cooling C-Main, Oldfield drove up from his 8th starting position to pass Tyler LaPointe (Owasso, OK) in the 11th lap to take the checked flag and move on to the B-Main. LaPointe finished 2nd with Conner Morrell (Palmetto, FL) and Jayson Schoenbaechler (IN) finishing 3rd and 4th respectively.

Chris Verda (Elyria, OH) takes the checkered flag in the Beacon & Bridge Markets B-Main. Verda passed Darin Naida (Adrian, MI) in the next to the last lap for the win, with Naida coming in 2nd. Austin Stern (Fleetwood, PA), Danny Sams (FL), Schoenbaechler, Brad Lamberson (Parma, MI), Morrell and LaPointe rounded the top 8 transfer spots to the A-Main.

In the Engine Pro Feature, Tyler Street started on the pole and led the first 6 laps until Berry overtook him in lap 7. Berry was the leader for the next 17 laps as he was fighting to hold off Stambaugh. In lap 25, Stambaugh gets around Berry along with Clark. Stambaugh is able to hold off Clark for 8 laps, but in lap 31, Clark gets around Stambaugh and takes the checkered as Stambaugh finishes 2nd. Keegan got around Berry for 3rd. Berry finished 4th with Matt Najacht rounding out the top five.

Jayson Schoenbaechler won the Hoosier Hard Charger award, starting 6th in the C-Main and battling up to the last transfer spot. In the B-Main, Schoenbaechler started 12th and drove his way into a 5th place finish, landing him a starting positon of 21st in A-Main. In the A-Main, Jayson drove his way up 15 spots to finish in 6th.

In the Tuesday, May 5th Qualifier Race at the Dirt Track in Charlotte, we had 10 drivers qualify for this Sundays race at 7 pm on Dirt Racing Network. These drivers qualified for this Sundays race: 1) Braden Finsel, 2)Garrett Peppiatt, 3) Jason Nygard, 4) Rylan Gray, 5) Tyler LaPointe, 6) Timothy Pipley, 7) Drew Phillips, 8)Darin Naida, 9) Matt Najacht and 10) Joey Sutton.
