Inside Line Promotions – Mt. POCONO, Pa. (May 4, 2020) – Joey Amantea will continue his 2020 racing season this Saturday at Greenwood Valley Action Tracks in Orangeville, Pa., following a two-month hiatus as a result of racing cancellations from the effects of COVID-19.

Amantea will participate in both winged and wingless micro sprint competition as he attempts to get back on track for what was anticipated to be a busy 2020 season for the young Mt. Pocono, Pa., native.

“I think in total we already missed around 10 races we had scheduled so I’m ready to get back out there and go racing,” he said. “Everybody is in the same boat so I expect it to be a long night with a lot of cars showing up. But it’ll be worth it to get back out there and turn some laps.”

In anticipation of Saturday’s race, Amantea will also partake in a private practice session at the track to shake down his equipment.

“We want to make sure we are prepared to race and make sure everything is working so we’re going to make a few laps and just kind of shake off the cobwebs,” he said. “Besides doing some iRacing, I haven’t been behind a wheel since Trenton. So it’ll be good to just get that feeling again.”

While the focus will be on the night’s racing activities and challenging for a win, Amantea is also hoping to dial in the car for a trip to Circus City Speedway in Peru, Ind., May 21-23 for the 3rd annual Performance Electronics 600cc Non-Wing Championships. Many of the world’s best micro sprint drivers will be in attendance for the marquee event that pays $10,000 to win.

“We decided we were going to go out to some of these bigger races this year and to compete at that level you need to be prepared and ready to go,” Amantea said. “That plan starts this weekend and I’m looking to come off the trailer fast and ready to go.

“My expectation every week is to be running near the front and to be in the thick of things. Anything less than a top 10 I’d say will be a disappointment. I can’t wait to get out on the track.”
