Belleville, IL. (4/14/2020) With sliders and side-by-side-racing a plenty, the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget iRacing League did not disappoint Tuesday night at digital Fairbury American Legion Speedway. As sixty-three competitors of both the virtual and physical variations would log-in trying to claim the prize at this weekly open challenge iRacing event, only one could emerge victorious.
For the second straight week, the Team TUHB domination continues with the POWRi Midget iRacing League with yet another stellar 1-2 showing. Last week’s feature winner #20 Brennan Rogers proved to be the class of the field at Fairbury Speedway, leading thirty of the forty feature revolutions. Teammate and eventual second-place finisher #09 Daison Pursley wouldn’t be denied for the top spot for a while by using high-side momentum on a mid-race restart to gain the advantage. Pursley and Rogers would battle brilliantly for several laps with Rogers using the same move to take the lead back over from Pursley, never relinquishing the prized-position. In a flurry of racing action in the final few laps, competitors would swap positioning on both ends of the virtual racing surface as longtime frontrunner #41 Logan Rumsey would place in the final podium spot. James Tiernan #9 would battle his way through the pack earning the hard charger award, flying from starting 23rd to finishing 6th.
Utilizing qualifying #20 Brennan Rogers would put down the fast time of 12.500 seconds securing the pole position for the first of seven heat races. Heat Race winners included Rogers, #09 Daison Pursley, #41 Logan Rumsey, #10 Karter Battarbee, #37 Aiden Purdue, #55 Blake Brannon, and #4 Robert Dalby.
With the top three finishers from the heat automatically transferring into the Main Event, a combination of four last chance qualifiers were used to set the eventual field of twenty-four drivers. E-Feature Winner - #5 Anton Hernandez, D-Feature Winner - #56 Braydon Renfro, C-Feature Winner - #81 Connor Lane, B-Feature Winner - #29 Kyle Spence.
Next week, at the mid-point of the iRacing season, the online racing continues Tuesday at 7 pm from the virtual world of the Chili Bowl inside the Tulsa Expo Square with the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget iRacing League.
