Belleville, IL. (04/07/2020) Over sixty drivers would gather Tuesday evening to join in on the digital dirt track racing action, as the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget iRacing League would try to tame the virtual world of Limaland Motorsports Park.
Continuing the momentum from an earlier heat race victory, pole sitter #20 Brennan Rogers would gain the early advantage and lead every circuit of the forty lap feature. Not without contention though, Rogers would net the victory with a who’s who list of drivers breathing down his neck. Daison Pursley #09 would mount charge after charge for the premier position in the waning laps, with Rogers fending off every attempt winning by only a 0.203-second margin. Pursley would maintain an outstanding outing, finishing in the runner-up spot, making the night a one-two sweep for the Tops-Up-Here-Bud Race Team. Anton Hernandez #5 would also be among the front-runners for the duration of the race, ending the night with a podium finish.
Using this past week to fine-tune their iRacing rigs, competitors from all forms of racing, both online and real-world, would put on a night of achievements to be remembered as heat race winners included; #20 Brennan Rogers, #45 Logan Rumsey, #5 Anton Hernandez, #09 Daison Pursley, #71 Cannon McIntosh, #18 James Tiernan, and #23 Jeffrey Denney.
An alphabet soup of last chance qualifiers were necessary to narrow down the field to the top 24 feature starters. With #57 Whit Knisley earning the E-Feature victory, as #25 Layton Kramer won the D-Feature. Showing how tight the competition is, last week’s winner and league point leader, #37 Aidan Purdue would flex his might not only winning the C-Feature but moving through the B-Main to qualify for the Feature event. The B-Feature winner #12 Lauren Emig would impress all with a hard-charger earning feature run of starting 22nd to finishing 7th.
Next week the online racing continues Tuesday at 7 pm from the virtual world of Fairbury American Legion Speedway with the POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget iRacing League. For full results, rules, point’s standings, and more information on the POWRi iRacing League visit POWRi West on Facebook.
