Inside Line Promotions – NORTH PORT, Fla. (March 16, 2020) – Danny Sams III has a 35-hour roundtrip trek on tap for his next event.
The Sams LaMountain Racing driver is planning on traveling from Florida to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 47th annual Spring Nationals this Friday and Saturday.
While the trip is long, it is exciting as the unique half-mile track is one where the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Rookie of the Year contender has laps. Sams III finished 16th during his debut before hustling from 21st to 12th on Night 2 last year.
“We were able to make the show both nights last year and we moved forward,” he said. “We got faster as the night went on. The track suited us better than what we thought for our first time there.
“The track is huge and probably the fastest one I’ve been on. Coming into the corners you didn’t know when to turn. You’d have to wait. It took me a hot lap session to understand the track. Then I got a little better each lap.”
Sams III enters this weekend tied for second place in the Rookie of the Year standings.
“The goal is to be able to make the show and move forward each night,” he said. “We want to show the speed that we need to have to be a contender.”
