Monticello, AR – May 29, 2009 - Paul McMahan from Hendersonville, Tennessee led every lap of the 30-lap Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series Speedweek Round Five at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, Arkansas on Friday night to capture his first-ever USCS feature win and first win of the 2009 season overall. McMahan bested a strong 30 car field from seven states to garner the win.
Monticello, AR – May 29, 2009 - Paul McMahan from Hendersonville, Tennessee led every lap of the 30-lap Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series Speedweek Round Five at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, Arkansas on Friday night to capture his first-ever USCS feature win and first win of the 2009 season overall. McMahan bested a strong 30 car field from seven states to garner the win.
Defending Parts Plus USCS Md South Thunder regional Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas who started in the K&N Pole Position after collecting the most passing points, challenged McMahan from close range over the first half of the race. Crawley again drew close over the final five laps before McMahan raced into victory lane with Crawley three car lengths behind the winner in the runner-up spot. Crawley won Round Four at I-30 Speedway on the previous night.
Seven-time and defending Parts Plus USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee followed in third place. Shane Stewart from Bixby, Oklahoma chased Gray to the finish line in the fourth position. Jesse Hockett from Warsaw, Missouri rounded out the top five.
Tommy Worley from Farmington, Missouri led the next group across the line in sixth place. Past USCS Champion Marshall Skinner from West Memphis, Arkansas finished seventh. 2008 I-30 Speedway Champion, Justin Sturch from Benton, Arkansas finished eighth in the main event. Henry Gustavus from Marion, Arkansas followed in ninth place and Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi rounded out the top ten.
McMahan kicked off his’ clean sweep of the evening’s events by winning the six-lap Parts Plus Power Dash. He also won the Bar’s Leaks Third Heat Race. Tommy Worley, Jr. won the 10-lap Engler Machine and Tool First Heat Race that followed. Tim Crawley raced to victory in the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Shane Stewart won the Lunati Cranks Fourth Heat Race.
The RE Technologies sprint car B-Main was won by veteran Dewayne Prince from Munford, Tennessee. was won by 2008 USCS Trick or Treat Fall Nationals Champion, Don Young from Bartlett, Tennessee garnered the Lunati “Crank It Up” Award for passing the most cars in the A-Main event. The RE Technologies Rookie of race honors went to Justin Carver. The JE Pistons Top Guns Award was garnerd by Terry Gray fom Bartlett, Tennessee. The Dynotech Hard Luck award went to Lee Moore from Tuscaloosa, Alabama who crashed severally in his heat race.
The Parts Plus United Sprint Car Series Speedweek 2009 Finale event is at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Mississippi on Saturday, May 30th .
