RIVERSIDE TRIPLE CROWN CHALLENGE NEWS: July 1, 2008 - Atlanta, Georgia - The Atlanta, Georgia based United Speed Contest Sanction has created what might be the Ultimate Challenge of short track events. On Thursday, July 10th at historic Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas the sanctioning body offers some pretty serious bread for a driver who can conquer what seems to be the ultimate short track challenge at the high-banked ΒΌ Gumbo clay oval well known for its torridly competitive racing action. The USCS has offered $10,000 including prize money and posted bonuses for any driver who can win the main event in three popular Mid-South racing divisions all in one night on July 10th. The divisions included in this challenging event are the Riverside Stock Cars (Street Stocks), the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series (winged sprint cars) and the Rislone USCS Modified Series (open wheel modifieds).
The O'Reilly USCS presented by Lucas Oil, winged sprint car event will pay $2000 to win. The Rislone USCS Modified Series event will pay a minimum of $1000 to win. The Riverside Stocks feature race will pay at least $500 to the winner. The Rislone USCS Modified Series portion of the event is additionally Round Four of the Rislone USCS Modifed Speedweek 2008.USCSHagar5.31.08.jpg
A bonus of will be offered for any driver who can win two of the main events. And a bonus of approximately $6500 will be paid to any driver who can collect the "triple" on that evening by winning all three features.
"I'm sure this is going to be real interesting" stated USCS Founder and President, Pete Walton. "I'm not sure this has ever been done and I'm sure it has not been done at Riverside Speedway. We just thought if we were going to have a week night event that we would give the fans something exciting to look forward to". "There will be a nice bonus of $1000 posted as well if a driver can win just two of these divisions. But, the big money will go to any driver who can demonstrate their ultimate versatility by winning all three classes." continued Walton. I understand several top drivers including O'Reilly USCS Mid-South points leader, Tim Crawley and 2006 O'Reilly USCS Rookie of the Year and 2007 and 2008 three time feature winner Derek Hagar are lining up rides for a run for the big money. The pit gates will open at 4:00pm on Thursday, July 10th. Grandstand gates will open at 5:30 pm and the $10,000 Triple Crown Challenge racing action begins at 8:00pm.
The United Speed Contest Sanction promotes and sanctions winged sprint car events via its O'Reilly Auto Parts United Sprint Car Series which is contesting its twelfth season. In 2006 the USCS kicked off the inaugural schedule for the Rislone USCS Modified Series for open wheel modified cars. The modified tour is presently one third ways through its third season.
