PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning action with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour on Friday night in Merced, CA, Justin Sanders would look to build off two podiums he earned with the series the week prior however a flat right rear tire would end his night early.
“We had a good car, and we were battling up in the Top-5 but unfortunately we lost a right rear tire with 10-laps to go,” Sanders said. “My guys worked hard all night long, and thanks to all these great companies that continue to support us.”
Lining up eighth in his heat race, Sanders showed speed early in the night aboard the North County Plastering/Andy’s Construction/Yuba Sutter Aviation backed No. 17 machine.
Advancing to fifth, Sanders would qualify for a qualifier where his win off the front row put him in the third row to start the 30-lap feature event.
Sanders got off to a nice start as he worked inside the Top-Five battling with the likes of Blake Hahn, Roger Crocket, Ryan Bernal and Andy Forsberg.
Continuing to play a high-speed game of chess, things would come unraveled for the Aromas, CA driver with just 10-laps to go in the race. With his right rear tire going flat, Sanders was forced to call it a night as he took his machine back to the pit area and was credited with a 20th place finish.
“It wasn’t the end result we wanted, but it was really good to have a ton of speed in the No. 17 car again,” Sanders said. “Again, thanks to everyone who helps us out either in the pits or as a marketing partner, it truly wouldn’t be possible without all of the help.”
Justin and his team would like to thank North County Plastering, Andy’s Construction, Yuba Sutter Aviation, Roadside 24hr Service, Alkaline88, Wicked Cushion, Roger’s Diner, Factory Kahne, BG Labels and Tee’s, Walker Performance Filtration, Dixon and Son Tires, Ernie’s Service Center, East Lake Village, FK Rod Ends, Triple X Race Co., DMI, Keizer Wheels, Wings Unlimited, Ti64 Titanium, AIS Heating and Sheet Metal, Fred Lint and Family, JonSan Racing, Sandblast Service, G&N Construction, Steitz Towing, Durden Construction, Ernie’s Service Center, and Steve Duppman Racing for their continued support in 2020.
ON TAP: Sanders is unsure if he will make it to Ocean Speedway’s season opener on Friday night, but will for sure be at Saturday’s King of the West opener at Kern County Raceway Park making his season debut in the Antaya Motorsports No. 16a machine.
