PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to work with Cox Racing on Sunday night in Petaluma, CA, a tough night has Jesse Love eager to return to the dirt this Friday and Saturday night in Chico, CA for the Silver Cup.
“Sunday night wasn’t really much of anything to write home about,” Jesse Love said. “We had a good car, I just needed to be more aggressive early in the night and it put us in a bit of a hole.”
Lining up on the pole of his heat race aboard the HomeSmiles.com/Toyota/TRD backed No. 44 entry, a tough start would see the Atherton, CA driver would lose a couple of early spots as he slipped to third.
Finishing third, Love’s loss of positions would leave him in an early hole with the ASCS tour’s format. Moving into a qualifier, Love’s ninth place finish left him on the outside of the feature event lock in driver list and looking in as he was relegated to one of the twin “B” main events.
Lining up fifth in the semi, Love would hang around the Top-10 but just couldn’t get going to make a run for one of the three transfer positions that was up for grabs. Finishing seventh, Love’s night would come to an end as he now turns his attention to Chico, CA and this weekend’s Silver Cup.
“It was a learning process on Sunday night, and I will take that night and build off of it this weekend,” Love said. “Hoping we can get two nights of racing in and get some good seat time. Thanks to Rod Tiner, Jr, Justyn Cox, and everyone associated with this team for their help and support.”
