Shane Races to Fifth Place Finish
After a brief break from his regular ride aboard Paul Silva’s ROCKSTAR ENERGY/Makita A.R.T., Shane Stewart climbed back in the seat and raced his way to a fifth place finish Thursday night at I 80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska.
With the race getting underway, Shane quickly went to work going forward from 11th starting position as passing became very tough as the track quickly began taking rubber.
“It’s always tough to pass and move forward when the rubber comes in, but we were pretty good tonight, “ said Shane.
Early in the feature Shane was able to power his Lucas Oil Products/Palmero Properties/Finley Farms entry around Trevor Gossenbacher and Bronson Maeschen to move into the 7th spot.
Once he made quick work of Ryan Roberts for the sixth spot on the seventh circuit, Shane and his Cross Creek Trucking/Palmero Properties/Wesmar powered machine began working on Wayne Johnson for the fifth spot.
After a spirited battle with Johnson, Shane snagged the fifth spot on the 13th circuit as the track began taking rubber, and made passing tough over the last half of the race.
As the laps ticked away, Shane and his ROCKSTAR/Makita/A.R.T. began applying heavy pressure to fourth running Jack Dover, but simply ran out of laps.
“If it wouldn’t of taken rubber about halfway through I think we would have been able to get a couple more spots and even contend for the win,” said Shane. “This is a nice start to our five straight nights of racing, and we’ll head to McCool Junction tomorrow night and see what we can do there.”
