Justyn Cox Finishes 13th at I 80

Petersen Media- After waiting out two weeks of rain outs, 16-year-old Justyn Cox kicked off a stretch of five races in five nights by way of a 13th place finish at I 80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska on Thursday night.

Justyn lined up his Brian Brown Racing/STL/Oakley machine in the 12th position for the 25 lap event. As the racing got underway the youngster fell to the 14th spot as he worked to get to the top of the track.

Once he settled in, Cox quickly began battling Chad Humston for the 13th position as the two exchanged slide jobs for the 13th spot for several laps early in the feature.

Once Humston made his final pass stick Cox was able to work his way back to the 12th spot, before Billy Alley began applying pressure to the California native.

From lap 7-10 Alley and Cox traded off the 12th spot before a yellow slowed the field.

After the race went back green, Justyn missed his line and got passed by Brady Bacon putting him the 13th spot.

On the 12th circuit the track began to take rubber and made passing very tough, and Justyn finished in the 13th spot.

“This was a real tough field of cars tonight, and everyone was really fast,” said Cox. “I made a couple of mistakes and it cost me towards the end, but when the track takes rubber like this you’ve got to capitalize on others mistakes, and not make any yourself.”

Justyn would like to thank Brian Brown Racing, Oakley, STL ( Sacramento Theatrical Lighting ), College Cyclery, 7industries, Searsboro Telephone Company for their continued support in 2011.

On Tap: Justyn and his BBR team will head to McCool Junction, NE May 27 to go to battle again with the ASCS Midwest region at Junction Motor Speedway.
