Inside Line Promotions – CARROLLTON, Mo. (Feb. 4, 2020) – This week is a special one in the evolution of Mason Daniel as a professional race car driver.
Daniel begins his 2020 campaign this Wednesday with five consecutive nights of racing at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., during the DIRTcar Nationals. The first two nights are Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions races and the final three are under the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series banner.
“I’m pretty excited because I think that we will be better there this year than last year,” he said. “We’ve improved a lot in the 410. I’m excited to get back and see how we stack up.”
Daniel made the main event during the World of Outlaws season opener last year in only his third career start at the half-mile oval.
“Qualifying is the biggest thing,” he said. “Also last year was my first year at that fast of a track in a 410. I got to see how big of a difference air makes on a car. I’m excited to get back and show what I learned throughout the 2019 season in a 410 sprint car.”
Daniel, who was recently named the 2019 North American 410 Sprint Car Poll Rookie of the Year Award winner, will follow the World of Outlaws full time this year for the first time. The three Outlaws races at Volusia Speedway Park present the first opportunity to test himself against the best drivers in the sport.
“I’d like to make every Outlaws main event,” he said. “That’s what counts for us in points. We want to be competitive. It’s important that we are on top of our game for all the Outlaws races and basically the whole week there.”
