Inside Line Promotions – PUYALLUP, Wash. (Feb. 3, 2020) – The 2020 season will get underway for Trey Starks next week when the Gobrecht Motorsports driver ventures to Florida.
Starks will make his debut at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla., on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 10-11, during an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champion doubleheader. The team will return to the semi-banked oval two days later for the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s, which runs Feb. 13-15.
“I’ve watched some videos and usually I tune into the Pay-Per-View broadcasts there at the beginning of the year,” he said. “It looks a little different. I’ve seen how the track races. I’m excited to go to a new track because we seem to adapt pretty quickly. We’re there for a week so we get to do some learning and we get to do both 410 and 360 races.”
Starks and the team relocated from Central Pennsylvania prior to last season when they focused on racing in the Midwest. Starks garnered a top-10 finish in the championship standings and the Rookie of the Year Award at the famed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa. A similar schedule is in the works for 2020 with the addition of a few events, starting with the five races at East Bay Raceway Park.
“I think we’ll be able to run well,” Starks said. “We made some changes to help us adapt to some different tracks. It’s exciting to be able to test some of those new components. We should be good right out of the gate. We have a fresh engine and I think we’ll have a really good package at that place.”
East Bay Raceway Park will be the third different oval in Florida Starks has invaded. He won 360ci sprint car races at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala in both 2017 and in 2015.
