2011 Schedule Updates at the Silver Dollar Speedway
By Troy Hennig

CHICO, CA - MAY 25, 2011...The Silver Dollar Speedway is excited to announce some updated schedule information and new racing divisions for the remainder of the 2011 racing season. “We have worked diligently with some local race promoters and drivers to ensure that we continue to allow for a more diverse racing field of cars and extra action for our die-hard fans,” said Promoter Dennis Gage. “I have to thank everyone involved who helped make this transition of new classes and dates as easy for us as they did.”
With the cancelation of the Silver Cup in March it left the dirt modified drivers and wingless racers without their big two-day show. Not any longer. The dirt modifieds and wingless drivers will be added to the Fall Nationals race weekend. The dates of the Fall Nationals are September 30 and October 1. Each division will get heat races and main events. Further information about the event will be released at a later time.
Another race that was lost due to bad weather was The Golden State King of the West Sprint Car Series event. The originally race was held on May 7th but after qualifying the rains came down the event was canceled. It was a big let down for everyone who puts in all the extra work and money for that race, known as the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial. However, that race and all of its glory will return on June 10th. That Friday night race on June 10th is titled as a Tribute to Gary Patterson and billed as a King of the West event. It will remain the same but with the added Dave Bradway Jr. extra lap money, heat race prizes and special trophy presentations for the children in attendance. “It was in everyone’s best interest to work with the King of the West and not lose that special race,” said Gage. “We are hopeful to get a strong crowd for the event, with a lot of sprint cars returning for a special night remembering two great local sprint car legends.” The BCRA Midgets had originally been scheduled for June 10th; however, that race has been moved to a yet undetermined night.
A new division will make their debut on the same night as the King of the West event. On June 10th the Mini Stocks are scheduled to race at the famed Silver Dollar Speedway. The Mini Stocks have gained a strong following racing at nearby Marysville and Orland tracks. The Mini Stocks who comply with Marysville Raceway Park rules will be allowed to compete. The three dates for the Mini Stocks in 2011 are June 10th, July 8th and August 5th.
On June 17th, July 22nd and August 19th the Hobby Stocks will get a chance to debut their class of cars on the quarter-mile clay oval. These cars that meet the Marysville Raceway Park and West Coast Enduro rules are eligible to compete. In years past the Enduro was a mainstay at the speedway during the Silver Dollar Fair on the Monday afternoon of Memorial Day. Each year the car counts grew and upwards of 24 drivers competed. Hopefully, those drivers along with other locals will with be excited about the opportunity to compete at the track more than once a year.
A new sprint car class will be unveiled on July 22nd. The Limited Crate Winged Sprint Cars will allow many drivers the chance to race in a winged sprint car division. This class of cars is an economical winged sprint car that will utilize a carbureted motor and other cost saving limitations for the division. This is a perfect class if someone wanted to drive a winged sprint car on a limited budget. Depending on car count and interest there could be more dates added to the schedule. “We have heard from local racers who wanted this opportunity to race at the speedway,” said Gage. “If these classes thrive there is a good chance that we can add a few more dates later this year. This year is a chance to get the word to the drivers and use this as a building block for the 2012 racing season.”
