Mother Nature only allowed the STM crew to race at the Manitowoc County Speedway this past weekend. Scotty drew a high number and started 9th in the heat race. A fast and tacky race track made it difficult to pass, but Thiel still managed to finish 6th and secured a 16th starting position in the night's 30-lap A-Main event. As the night continued on, the track was starting to dry out and become fairly slick. The crew made some adjustments to the car and knew that Scotty would need a car capable of driving anywhere, especially starting that deep in the field. At the drop of the green, Scotty felt that the car was going to be good, and started to one by one pick cars off. A few cautions occured throughout the race which helped Scotty out by having the field bunched back up. By the mid way point of the race, Thiel found himself sitting solid in the top 10. A late caution helped again but Scotty knew it was time to move forward with the laps counting down. A great battle was happing from the 3rd through 7th position as they were all flopping positions every lap. Scotty was in the 6th spot on the white flag lap and dove down to the bottom in turn 3, slid up to 4th, but slid a little too far up coming out of turn 4 and managed to pull of a solid 5th place finish. Thiel recieved the nightly hard charger award for passing 11 cars. "Man, this car was hooked up tonight, just ran out of laps at the end." Thiel stated.
