BUTCHER READY FOR WA TITLE FIGHT

Ben Butcher will set his sights on a top ten finish at this weeks WA Sprintcar Championship at the Perth Motorplex.
After a frustrating few weeks, the Two B Racing outfit are now setting their sights in being a regular top ten contender as they wait for their 410 engine to arrive back in the racing stable.
In the mean time, it’s all about laps in the seat for Ben and his team where the 360 engine is locked and loaded for action at the Kwinana Beach circuit on Saturday.
An upbeat butcher was objective about this weekends shot at title glory;
“We know where we’re at for the time being,” he said. “It’s a smaller engine but of we can finish in a consistent top ten for the races ahead then I’d be happy with that.”
A stellar field is lining up for the annual WA Title bout this weekend with interstate drivers heading the long list. With 26 drivers on the field sheet, Butcher is under no illusions where he sits in the overall scheme of things.
“We’re going out there with a glass half full mentality this weekend,” he smiled.
“I know we’re competitive enough to mix it with the best and we’re gonna give it a red hot crack.”
Adding to the night is the combination of the annual John Day Classic event which hols a lot of pride for the entire competitor list at the Motorplex this weekend.
Butcher was elated to be out there saluting one of speedway’s true identities.
“It’s a special thing to be a part of it all, especially to honour one of the greats in WA Speedway,” he said.
With the national names on the nomination sheet, Butcher admits that the line up is impressive to say the least, but, he is also not daunted by the level of competition he will face come Saturday night.
“We’re not going into Saturday night with our eyes closed, that’s for sure,” he said. “It’s a tough field to race against, but we’re going into it with our goals being set and we’re realistic.”
Ben will be not only optimistic of his chances but he knows that the key to this weekends event is effort and focus. Something which he is fully aware of and will have the usual “take no prisoners” attitude on his side.
Adding to his open class experience will place him in good stead for the coming USA vs WA Sprintcar Speedweek series that is just around the corner, starting on December 26th if their motor arrives on schedule.
Race fans can expect to see the W42 right in the thick of things come Saturday night and the when it comes down to the fight, Butcher will be right up there doing the best he can to improve.
