LASOSKI FINISHES 4th WITH MOWA IN JACKSONVILLE

Inside Line Promotions – JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (May 22) – It wasn’t the result he wanted, but Danny Lasoski was grateful just to be able to race.

The sprint car veteran finished fourth on Friday in the second attempt of the Midwest Open Wheel Association’s feature at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill. – an event that rained out the previous weekend just after the hot-lap sessions.

“Last week we hauled about nine hours roundtrip only to get rained out,” Lasoski said. “We haven’t been able to race much in the past couple of weeks because of the weather, so it was great to get Friday’s race in. The stands were full and there was a good number of cars in Jacksonville.”

The Dover, Mo., native started and finished second in his heat race, although it was anything but simple. Lasoski jumped to the lead two separate times before a caution on the opening lap, which forced the field to restart and placed Lasoski on the outside line. On the third attempt, polesitter Jimmy Hurley took the lead and held off Lasoski for the top spot.

“I got the jump two times and had a caution both times,” Lasoski said. “The third time I got beat. You’ve gotta get the job done when you can.”

The result locked Lasoski into the feature, but he missed a spot in the six-car dash by just one position. That relegated him to start seventh in the feature. Lasoski worked his way into the top five, but said his car wasn’t tight enough to contend for the win.

“The race track got to be where it was mainly on the bottom in turns three and four,” he said. “If you had your car working, you could actually diamond turns one and two.

“I didn’t tighten the race car up enough. The bottom line was that we got beat.”

It was Lasoski’s ninth top-four finish in his last 11 races.

He was headed to race at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa – where he’s the current 410 points leader – on Saturday, but that event was rained out for the second straight week.
