MERRILL, MI – The strength of a racing series can be traced to the strength of the drivers, cars and race teams that support it. The Ridenour Racing Team is one of those teams that has been with Great Lakes Super Sprints from the start in the Fall of 2015.
Chase Ridenour was the driver of the family owned car and captured the inaugural GLSS Championship in 2016 at 17 years old. The quiet strength in the pits, making sure the team was always putting their best foot forward was Chase’s dad, Rick Ridenour.
The owner of Ridenours Auto Repair in Perry, MI, Rick worked whatever hours he needed to take care of his customers during the week, still making sure they were ready to race each weekend. Ridenour Racing only missed 1 race out of 78 races the past 4 years. Winning 6 features and winning 1 Championship and finishing 2nd, 5th and 4th in the season points race from 2016-2019.
Another key member to the race team, seeing to all the behind the scene details is Ricks wife, Lisa Ridenour. Lisa was busy during the week, running for parts, being home for deliveries and keeping up with social media for the team (along with anything else that needed to be done!).
Ridenour Racing had a loyal crew and their pit area was always represented well along with a great fan base that traveled well to support Chase and Great Lakes Super Sprints.
Yesterday, a press release announced that after 14 years of competitive racing, Ridenour Racing will be holding an online sale on December 18. Their quality selection of cars and engines will be available for purchase. Chase is hoping to continue to race in the 2020 season and is interested in discussions with potential car owners .
We are saddened to lose such a great supporter and team, but fully understand. Thank you to Rick and Lisa and the entire Ridenour Racing team for their support of Great Lakes Super Sprints. The incredibly entertaining show that their team provided for all sprint car fans will be greatly missed.
Your love of the sport was put on display every race and you will always be welcome in our pits anytime! Thank you and we wish you all the best in the future.
