BELLEVILLE, ILL. (February 6, 2019) – POWRi is proud to announce the addition Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints to the POWRi Lightning Sprint League. With the addition of the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints, this is the fifth series to join the POWRI Lightning Sprint League.
Based out of the North Dakota and Minnesota area, the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints will now run under the unified POWRi rule package, with Jason Berg, the series owner, remaining as head of the series.
Serving as the sanctioning body for four of the nation’s biggest lightning sprint organizations, the POWRi Lightning Sprint League will consist of the California Lightning Sprints (CLS), the Rocky Mountain Lightning Sprints (RMLS), the Midwest Lightning Sprints (MLS), the BCRA Lightning Sprints, and now the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints.
As part of the POWRi Racing League organization, POWRi provides a point fund for each individual division and offers each division the enhanced opportunity to grow within their respective league.
In addition, following a highly successful inaugural Lightning Sprint Nationals, in 2020 the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints will now participate for the national championship. Held at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Missouri, the POWRi Lightning Sprint Nationals will offer the chance for each series to be represented as drivers chase the prestigious honor of winning the national title.
“We’re thrilled to add the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints to the POWRi Lightning Sprint League and bring a unified feeling to the lightning sprint community,” noted POWRi League Director, Jason McCord. “We pride ourselves on the diversity that POWRi offers between midgets, micro sprints, and sprint cars, and now lightning sprints ups that ante. I’m confident and excited to see the success that this new partnership creates.”
