Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (May 16, 2011) – Round four of the inaugural ASCS Southern California Regional slate is set for Saturday night as the series takes to Hanford’s Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway.
Out to the early ASCS SoCal points lead, Tommy Tarlton topped the inaugural series event at Kings on April 23 and guns for a third win in four tries.
Tartlon not only won the season opener, but made it two in a row with a Thunderbowl triumph at Tulare a week later before having his win streak snapped by Cory Eliason at Santa Maria on May 7.
Tarlton is out to a 22-point lead over Eliason in the ASCS SoCal championship points race, with the rest of the current top five including Ronnie Day, Trey Starks and Koen Shaw.
The high-banked, 3/8-mile Giant Chevrolet Kings Speedway clay oval is located in Hanford, CA, south of SR 198 on 10th Avenue to the Fairgrounds. For more information, contact the track at 559-584-7223.
The inaugural slate of ASCS Southern California action includes a dozen nights of winged Sprint Car competition at four tracks including Kings Speedway, Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway, Santa Maria Speedway and Bakersfield Speedway.
The 2011 season marks the 20th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, with approximately 200 nights of competition at tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters, ASCS also consists of ten different Regions throughout the nation.
