Inside Line Promotions – MT. POCONO, Pa. (Nov. 14, 2019) – Joey Amantea continued to grow as a driver in 2019 as he competed in three different divisions and visited multiple tracks.

He scored one feature victory, 18 top-five finishes and 34 top-10 results during a total of 67 races.

“I thought this year was great and I’m extremely happy about how 2019 went,” he said. “I’m more interested in the numbers across the board and the numbers show solid runs. And if not for some bad luck, there would be more to show as well.”

Amantea’s main focus was non-wing micro sprint competition. He picked up his first career win in the division while competing at Hamlin Speedway in Hamlin, Pa., in May. Amantea also achieved a personal goal of finishing in the top three in the championship standings at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa.

The weekly success at Linda’s Speedway paid off during the famed Linda’s National Open as Amantea gained 11 positions during the A Main to finish sixth against a tough field of drivers.

“Finishing third at Linda’s and not getting a win there, it just shows how consistent we are at that track,” he said. “I think the key word is consistency and we showed we can be consistent. I’m proud of what we accomplished.”

Amantea also ran various winged micro sprint races throughout the season and late in the season he made several starts in a Stage One Modified at Hamlin Speedway. He took to the cars quickly and scored a sixth-place finish in his first attempt behind the wheel before earning a career high of fifth the following week.

While the Mt. Pocono, Pa., native wanted to visit Victory Lane more than just once, he believes the track time accumulated and various tracks visited will allow for more trips into the Winner’s Circle in 2020. The team plans on making more winged micro sprint starts next year.

“We didn’t get as many wins as we’d like, but I think we’re ready to contend every night going forward,” he said. “As a program I feel like we are really well prepared and ready to flourish. To say I’m excited about 2020 is an understatement.”
