Inside Line Promotions – CLAY, N.Y. (Nov. 11, 2019) – Joe Trenca took a huge leap forward in 2019 when he produced career-best marks in feature victories, top fives and top 10s.

The biggest moments came during a pair of trips to Victory Lane at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., where the Mucci Motorsports driver was victorious on Aug. 2 and Sept. 21 during the Outlaw Fall Nationals.

“It was long overdue and we probably should have had a few before that,” he said. “We finally got the job done.”

Trenca also garnered 11 top fives and 17 top 10s, besting his previous season highs in both categories.

“We hit a summer slump, but as soon as we changed our chassis in July we got rolling again,” he said. “Overall it was a good season and we learned a lot. Russ from RPM Chassis helped us a ton. They build a great car and their customer service is second to none.

“This was a year where we didn’t have a crew chief and I was making the calls along with the help from my other guys. It helped a lot because I was able to apply to the race car what I felt and wanted. As a whole my guys and I learned a lot about our new chassis and what it likes and we gained a lot on the slick tracks, which was one of our goals.”

Another high point was a runner-up finish in the Patriot Sprint Tour championship standings. Trenca was in contention for the title throughout the season, which was his first committed for points in awhile. He finished a mere 38 points behind the eventual champion.

“Davey (Franek) has a heck of a team and congrats to those guys for the championship,” Trenca said. “We didn’t talk about points until the week before the last race. You had to be make sure you were in the hunt every night or at least be in the top five. It was a different experience for us.

“I don’t think we ran outside the top five very much and only ran outside the top 10 two or three times during Patriot Sprint Tour races. We were consistent. When we look back on it the championship came down to one weekend. We made a mistake in the shop and didn’t catch it until after the race. We fought the car all night because of something we overlooked. If we could take it back and we ran in the top five the championship battle would have been even closer. It was still a great year.”

Trenca also ended eighth in the Canadian Mini Series standings. Additionally, he ranked third in the Bonnell’s Rod Shop Dash 4 Cash Series and second in both the Danny Willmes Enterprises Lap Leaders and Patriot Tank Lines Hard Charger categories.
