Mid Race Tangle Puts Gregg in 20th at Tulare

Petersen Media- Saturday night in Tulare, CA, Andy Gregg fell victim to contact with Bobby McMahan while running in the 6th spot early in the feature and was forced to tag the rear of the field where he finished in the 20th spot.

As the feature event got under way, Gregg quickly went to work from his 11th starting position aboard his 7 Industries/Ervin Sales Group/Eagle No.53.

Following a red on lap three, Gregg lined up for the double file restart inside the fifth row, and quickly began working towards the top five.

While running in the sixth spot, the Placerville native began a fierce battle with Bobby McMahan, as the duo fought for the sixth spot.

On the ninth circuit, contact with McMahan sent the Austism Awareness/Wheel Vintiques/College Cylcery backed entry spinning, bringing out the caution.

The Bret Ervin Racing machine was able to fire, but tagged the back of the field, on a track that was tricky to pass, as the slick surface began taking rubber half way through the event.

Over the final half of the race, Gregg and his King Racing Products/BR Motorsports/Hot Rod Shop entry stayed out of trouble and finished with a disappointing 20th place finish.

“We were actually pretty good tonight, unfortunately our results just don’t show it,” said Gregg. “We’ve been here three times this year and just don’t have the finishes that we were definitely capable of. The good thing is we can put this behind us, and look forward to Santa Maria next weekend.”

To start the night off, Gregg stopped the clocks with the 10th quickest lap of the 30 cars assembled at Thunderbowl Speedway. In heat race action Gregg grabbed the fourth spot in the second heat.

Gregg and team will be back in action Saturday night, May 21st at Santa Maria Speedway, in Santa Maria, CA.
