Inside Line Promotions – JONESTOWN, Pa. (Oct. 23, 2019) – Joey Amantea put an exclamation mark on 2019 as he closed out his season by gaining 11 positions in the feature to finish sixth during the famed National Open hosted by Linda’s Speedway last Saturday night.

“What an awesome way to close out the season,” he said. “It was definitely a high note for the year and I couldn’t be happier with the results.”

Amantea kicked off Friday night by timing in 17th quickest with a lap of 13.289 seconds. He then started fourth in a heat race and finished there as well. As a result of being among the top-25 cars, Amantea locked himself into Saturday night’s feature event in the 17th starting spot.

“All year at Linda’s we have been missing something and it’s the difference between being really good and just okay,” he said. “We should’ve changed gears, but we held our own and it showed us what we needed to do for Saturday.”

With his spot secured in the A Main, Amantea prepared Saturday knowing he’d need to come from deep in the field. The team changed the setup and it quickly showed to be the correct decision. Amantea passed 11 cars during the feature and finished sixth for his 34th top-10 finish of the season.

“We put in a setup that we have never tried before and instantly we were faster than we have ever been at Linda’s,” he said. “If we’d had a better showing Friday, I think we had a car capable of winning and it’s definitely a huge confidence boost to end 2019.”

This was the final scheduled event of 2019 for Amantea. In a season that saw the young Mt. Pocono, Pa., native pick up one win and race across three different divisions, he’s extremely excited to get back behind the wheel in 2020 and believes the team is set up for success moving forward.

“From the beginning of the season to now, I think the results show how far we’ve come,” he said. “We led a ton of laps and we were fast a lot. I think we are ready to be a serious contender going forward and I can’t wait to get back on track next season.”
