Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 23, 2019) – Robbie Price had a consistent weekend at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, where he recorded a 15th-place finish in back-to-back nights during the 46th annual Winter Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“It wasn’t really anything to get too excited about, but overall not a bad weekend,” he said. “We were not very good in the heat races both nights and when you’re coming through the B Main you’re going to have a handful.”
Price advanced from seventh to fifth place in a heat race on Friday. A third-place run in the B Main earned the 19th starting position in the main event. Price battled a tight race car and tough track conditions to advance four positions and finish 15th. It was his 28th top 15 of the season.
“The track was just tough to pass on and we got put a lap down early on,” he said. “After that we really didn’t have much of an opportunity to move forward, so it was what it was.”
Saturday night began similarly when he started seventh in a heat and finished there as well. Once again forced to qualify via the B Main, Price started fourth and passed two cars to finish second.
In the feature he got caught up in a wreck at the beginning and was forced to go to the tail of the field. On a track that once again was tough to pass on, Price bided his time throughout the remaining laps to move forward and finish 15th for the second consecutive night.
“We got involved in a wreck on the opening lap and had to go to the rear early,” he said. “After that we just kind of rode around and it was just a rough night.”
With only two remaining races in Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action remaining this season, Price sits eighth in the championship standings – trailing seventh by 10 points.
The final event of the season is Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in Fort Worth, Texas, during the Tony Stewart presents the VANKOR Texas Sprint Car Nationals.
“We have our work cut out for us after a tough weekend, but we’re heading into a track I’ve been to and I feel like we’re more than capable,” Price said. “There is a big difference between seventh and eighth in points when it comes to payout so the goal is to do our best and finish as high as possible.”
