Becker Bags Chico Civil War

Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, Sacramento’s Sean Becker bested a stout field of 35 winged 360 ci sprint cars to capture his first Civil War win of the season, and third at the ¼ mile bull ring in 2011.

As the green flag waved, it was pole sitter, Jimmy Trulli, getting the jump and setting the early pace on the slicked off racing surface.

After a yellow on lap six, Trulli led the field for the next two laps, until the two-time champion Becker was able to get under Trulli in turns one and two and quickly motored away from the pack, stretching his lead to a straight away distance as the next 15 laps went non stop as Becker carved his way through traffic.

After a caution on lap 21 with nine to go, Becker had two lapped cars between him, second running Trulli, John Michael Bunch, Andy Forsburg, and Herman Klein.

As the race resumed, Becker continued to dominate the race, as he picked up the easy win.

Behind him things got interesting on the white flag lap, as a spinning lapped car put second running Trulli into an infield tire collapsing his front end, and ending his night on the backstretch. Bunch captured his career best Civil War finish, and Forsburg, Klein, and Mike Henry rounded out the top five.

Heat race wins went to Steven Tiner, Becker, Mike Benson, and Kyle Hirst. Henry captured the B main event, and Andy Forsburg timed in with the quickest lap of the night.
