Sycamore, Ill., Sept. 25---Two points separate Chase McDermand over Jack Routson heading into Saturday's Sept. 28 season finale for the Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie Badger Midget Racing Series at Sycamore Speedway. With the Badger title "hanging in the balance", competitors will also be competing in the $5,000 to win rain-delayed "Franklin B. Alexander Memorial".
Saturday's event will also feature: Super Late Models, Street Stocks, and Pure Stocks for their final points night of the season . General admission gates open at: 6 pm, qualifying begins at 6:30 pm with races to follow. Wristbands and tickets stubs from the Aug. 31 event will be valid to use on this night. Only the twenty-five cars and drivers that were entered for the Aug. 31 rained out event, will be eligible to compete in the evenings program.
McDermand has scored a "clean sweep" at the last two Badger events at Beaver Dam Raceway and 141 Speedway to overtake Routson for the points lead. In the four previous events this season at Sycamore, Routson holds the advantage with two wins, a second, and third place finish. McDermand has two third place finishes, a sixth and nine place finish. Car Owner Kevin McDermand#40 leads Tim Routson#14 by thirty points for the Car Owners Championship.
Franklin B. Alexander was a long-time well-known race fan attending events at Sycamore, Wilmot and Sante Fe Speedway to name a few tracks. Due to the generosity of the Alexander family which competes in the series, competitors will be racing for the largest posted purse during the 2019 season.
In support of the DuKane Abate Toy Run, the track is collecting gift cards in $10 increments for "Older Children in Need". They recommend gift cards from places like: Amazon, Apple Itunes, Google Play, Gas Stations, Walmart and Target or Clothing Stores tailored to those ages 12 to 17. A donation equals $2 off an adult general admission ticket and $5 off a pit pass.
