Inside Line Promotions – HAMLIN, Pa. (Sept. 20, 2019) – Joey Amantea made the most of a trio of features last Saturday at Hamlin Speedway, where he posted a fifth-place finish during both micro sprint competition as well as Stage One Modifieds action.

In addition to the two top fives, Amantea also scored a sixth-place result during the regularly scheduled micro sprints feature. His top five came during a make-up race.

Amantea and his team began the night by overcoming adversity. They unloaded at the track to find damage to their micro sprint and they quickly got to work making repairs to the power steering. They were able to get everything fixed with just enough time to start the make-up feature, in which Amantea started seventh and advanced two positions to finish fifth.

“We were really under the gun to get the car fixed and ready to even roll out for the feature,” he said. “With not really having time to prepare, we didn’t have a good setup in the car and we just took what we could get.”

In regular wingless micro sprint action, Amantea lined up at the tail end of a heat race and he advanced several positions to finish sixth. This placed the Mt. Pocono, Pa., native sixth for the feature. He finished in that position to cap the season at the track.

“It wasn’t really the way we wanted to end things for the year at Hamlin, but I can’t be too upset,” he said. “It would have been nice to get a win, but it just wasn’t our year there.”

Amantea wrapped up the night by competing in Stage One Modifieds action. Heat race finishes of second and fourth, respectively, lined him up on the outside of the second row for the main event. He battled for a top five throughout the feature before ending fifth.

“I enjoy running the Stage One Modified and they are a lot of fun to drive,” he said. “We got a fifth, which isn’t bad for how little we have competed in them. We’ll see where we go from here.”

Next up will be a return to Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa., this Friday night before a first-time visit to Limerock Speedway in Caledonia, N.Y., on Saturday.

“I’m optimistic we can have a good night and I’m looking forward to visiting a new track,” he said. “Any time you can gain track time and see new places it can only make you better so I’m excited.”
