Mechanical Woes Hinder Top Ten Run for Stewart

Tuesday night in Salina, Oklahoma during the World of Outlaw race, Shane Stewarts night came to an early end as mechanical woes forced him pit side with just eight laps to go as he was battling Jason Meyers for the ninth spot.

Stewart lined his Silva Motorsports/ROCKSTAR/Makita/A.R.T. machine up in the sixth row alongside ASCS rival Jason Johnson. As the green flag waved Stewart held strong in the eleventh position as the field got strung out over the first ten green flag laps, Stewart engaged in a fierce battle with Joey Saldana as he looked to crack the top ten.

As the race slowed on the tenth circuit, the double file restart put the Finley Farms/Lucas Oil Products/Cross Creek trucking entry behind Saldana and next to Chad Kemmenah.

Once back underway, Stewart and Saldana were both able to clear Cody Darrah, to grab the ninth and 10th spots as the caution flag slowed the race again just four laps later.

After another double file restart, Shane and his Palmero Properties/ProBilt Construction entry were pressuring Jason Meyers for the ninth spot. As the duo exchanged the sport over the next eight laps, the caution again slowed progress on the 22nd circuit. Under yellow, Shane felt something go sour in the engine, as was forced to pull his Silva Motorsports entry pit side, ending his night abruptly, and in the 23rd position.

“We had a pretty good night going, and had a solid top ten car,” said Shane. “Any time you have to pull off the track with a mechanical issue is not a good feeling.”

Shane started the night off by timing in 11th quick out of the 27 car field, and grabbed third in his heat race.

Shane and the ROCKSTAR/Makita car will be back in action Saturday night with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour as the invade Riverside Speedway for the third annual Rock-n-Roll 50.
