Inside Line Promotions – LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 17, 2019) – Jordon Mallett advanced eight positions last Saturday to capture a top-10 result during the 12th annual Ralph Henson Memorial at I-30 Speedway.

The trip to the bullring, which was a combined ASCS regional race with the Mid-South and Sooner Regions, served as a homecoming for the Greenbrier, Ark., native.

“It wasn’t the result we were looking for in heading home as we have a lot of fans in that area, but it was nice to run there,” Mallett said. “To be able to be home and have sponsors, friends and family supporting us at the track, it was a highlight for me no matter what.”

With a stacked field of 39 drivers in attendance, Mallett began the night by finishing where he started – third – in a heat race. He also participated in a six-lap ‘Race of Champions’ race as a result of being a past champion of the event (in 2014) and again finished where he started – second.

Mallett was forced to run the B Main and for the third time of the night he finished where he started – second. That secured the 17th starting spot in the main event.

In a race that only had two cautions in the first handful of laps, Mallett charged forward to pass eight cars and finish ninth. The top-10 result was his 13th of the season and served as a learning experience for the track’s 32nd annual Short Track Nationals in early October.

“The track wasn’t really the normal as I remembered there and we made the best of things all night,” he said. “We didn’t get passed by a car all night and we advanced in the feature so I’d say we had a pretty successful night.”

Next up for Mallett will be the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial this Thursday through Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo. The three-day Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event pays $10,000 to win the finale.

“This is our first trip to this track and it’s a great opportunity to see where we stack up and show how much we’ve learned this season,” he said. “The goal is always to win and I know we are just as capable of winning as the next guy. But if we can get it in the show each night and make as many laps as possible it’ll be a good weekend.”
