Green Mountain Gear Heads Sprint Cars of New England rolled into RumTown Speedway in Wenthworth, NH. for Burns Automotive Night on overcast drizzley late afternoon. With the weather improving and still a chance of showers , track management decided to run features only. With just one practice session teams were left to decide on what set up to use on the slick surface . Drivers drew for starting position with Rick Stone in the 41u and Jake Williams in the 73 starting on the front row. When the green flag dropped on the thirty lap race Jake Williams got a good jump over Stone on the outside . Clay Dow in his 58 machine followed Williams into turn one. With those two taking off to a good size lead , Will Hull in the 61 was battling Chris Donnelly's 24 machine for third. That battle continued until lap twelve when Hull got by Donnelly on the bottom of turns one and two. Meanwhile up front Dow was gaining on Williams. By lap nineteen Dow was able to dive under Williams as he went a little wide in turn four for the lead and never looked back. Hull was reeling in the top two and tried looking inside Williams a few times but couldn't make it stick. The race went caution free for the thirty laps with Clay Dow taking down the win , Jake Williams finishing second , and Will Hull ending up third. Followed by Chris Donnelly, Mike Kondrat, Floyd Billington, and Rick Stone.
The next event for the Green Mountain Gear Heads Sprint Cars of New England is set for Saturday, September 21st at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford VT. This will be the final time SCoNE visits there this season.
