Inside Line Promotions – CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. (Sept. 10, 2019) – Joe Trenca hustled to a ninth-place finish on Sunday during the New York Sprint Car Nationals at Land of Legends Raceway.
The Mucci Motorsports driver maneuvered from eighth to fifth place during a Patriot Sprint Tour heat race and from fifth to fourth place in a qualifier on Friday. He then finished where he started – third – in a heat race on Saturday before the night’s main event was postponed to Sunday afternoon because of rain.
“Sunday was a day show,” he said. “The track took rubber and there wasn’t much you could do about it. We had speed. We were hoping it wasn’t going to take rubber. We run pretty well there when it stays slick. We were up to seventh or eighth at one point and got out of the rubber once and got passed.”
Trenca’s rally from 13th to ninth marked his 13th top 10 of the season.
The team returns to action this Saturday at Ohsweken Speedway in Ohsweken, Ontario, Canada, during the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals with the Patriot Sprint Tour.
“The last couple of years we’ve had bad luck to not make the show,” he said. “This year we’ve been a lot better all year. Our main goal it to put it in the show and then put ourselves in the best position.”
Trenca’s career-best finish at the track was seventh in 2017 and his event-best result was an eighth-place showing during the 2014 edition of the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals. His season-best result during two starts at the track this year is 13th.
