Inside Line Promotions – HAMLIN, Pa. (Sept. 10, 2019) – Joey Amantea highlighted a two-race weekend with a fifth-place run last Friday night during non-wing micro sprint action at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa.
Amantea began the night by finishing where he started – fourth – in a heat race. As a result, Amantea made the feature redraw and he drew the sixth starting position.
Amantea struggled with a loose car as his team didn’t anticipate a slick race track for the feature. He finished fifth, which was his 16th top five of the season. More importantly, it was a solid points night as Amantea is hoping to finish the season ranked in the top three in the championship standings.
“There was a nice cushion all night,” he said. “However, come feature-time it was just really slick and we guessed wrong on the setup. There’s a lot of things that could be worse than finishing in the top five so I won’t complain too much. We had a good points night, too, so I was happy.”
Amantea headed to Hamlin Speedway on Saturday. He passed a pair of cars to finish fifth in a heat race after a bad pill draw placed him toward the rear of the field.
Amantea then struggled with track conditions in the feature for the second straight night. He started from the 12th position and worked hard to pass five cars, taking the checkered flag in the seventh position.
“The track just wasn’t really set up for a ton of passing,” he said. “I did get the Hard Charger Award though. We just kind of made the best of the situation with how far back we had to start.”
Amantea will return to Linda’s Speedway Friday and Hamlin Speedway on Saturday.
