Cox Captures Career Best at Knoxville
Saturday night at the world famous Knoxville Raceway, Californian, Justyn Cox, wheeled his Brian Brown Racing/STL No.21c to a career best second place finish during the opening night of action Saturday.
Cox lined his Oakley/College Cyclery/7 Industries mount up in the third spot of the 15 lap affair, and has the green flag waved he quickly went to work on second running Josh Higday.
As Cox continued to battle Higday for the second spot over the first half of the race, the fierce battle was slowed as the yellow flag waved on lap seven.
As the race resumed, Cox was able to pull along side of Higday as the duo raced down the front stretch, before Cox was able to clear him for second coming out of turn four on the eighth lap, and set his sights on race leader, Russ Hall who had raced away to a straight away lead.
As the race wore on, Cox continued to reel the leader in, as lapped traffic quickly became a factor for the lead pack. As Cox closed in on the leaders bumper with three laps to go, he was forced to make an avassive action for a lapped car, and allowed Hall to get away.
As the checkered flew on the event Cox came home with a career best second place finish at the world famous facility.
“Last weekend was one heck of a weekend,” said Cox. “We've been fast this year but just have had some bad luck, and some driver errors that have cost me a good solid finish. Heading to Knoxville I knew I was going to have a good car and it was just going to be up to me on just driving my best. I have to thank all my guys for giving me a great car tonight.”
In preliminary action, Justyn timed in with the 12th fastest lap of the 27 entrants putting him in the third heat race where he would start and finish third.
Justyn would like to thank Brian Brown Racing, Oakley, STL ( Sacramento Theatrical Lighting ), College Cyclery, 7industries, Searsboro Telephone Company for their continued support in 2011.
Justyn will again take on the ½ mile Knoxville Raceway this Saturday May 7, 2011. For more information please check out www.justyncox.com.
