Off Road Speedway Norfolk, Nebraska (August 24, 2019)—Heavy drizzle and eager fans couldn’t stop the racing action from happening at the 1/3 mile facility in northeast Nebraska. After a 2 hour delayed start and a full grandstands, we finally got to racing just after 9 P.M. The is the second and final 360 race at the facility this year as Jason Martin took the win in the June race.
It was the current top two drivers in points who put on a show for the fans that left them on their feet. After a series of yellow flags and a stretch of green flag racing, Jack Dover was able to pull of the "move of the year" as he waited until the last corner, of the last lap, to get by Jason Martin on the bottom side and clear his perfectly executed slide job for the win! "Jason Martin was pretty good all night long and I knew I had to do something. Those yellows didn't help us and I was waiting for lapped traffic. We were pretty good in lapped traffic so I knew that was going to be our only chance to get him. I saw one lapped car hold him up at the white flag and I knew I had to capitalize. Our car wasn't perfect and I missed the setup. I do feel bad for Jason because I've been in his situation where you lead races and you don't know where to run or where second place is. I've lost a few races that way. Hats of to their team as they've been running strong all year and it just feels good to get another win here in front of all of these great fans. This move is definitely won of the top 3 moves I've made and it feels good to do it in front of these fans. I love coming to Norfolk, Off Road Raceway, because of the fans. I can't thank them enough for coming!"
Jason Martin and the Saldana Racing Products pole winner of Jack Dover made up the front row of the A feature. Dover led the field to the green flag and Jason Martin took to the high side and took the lead from Dover. On lap 3, Martin had extended his lead to 8 cars over Dover but found lap traffic the next lap as Dover began to real him in. Cody Ledger ran third followed by Tommy Barber and Chuck McGillivray. The yellow flew with 8 laps down as Mark Chisholm collected the inside tractor tire in turn 1. The top 5 were Jason Martin, Jack Dover, Cody Ledger, Tommy Barber, and Chuck McGillivray.
On the restart, Martin continued to rocket on the start as Tommy Barber took over third from Cody Ledger but the yellow flew as Eric Lutz hit the tractor tire in turn 1 bringing out a second yellow. No laps were complete on that restart.
Jason Martin brought the field to the green flag going high in turn 1 as Dover went low but Martin kept the lead. Half way down, Martin maintained his lead followed by Dover, Ledger, Klabunde and Justin Jacobsma. Cody Ledger caught the berm on lap 13, in turn 3, jumped it and tumbled hard and landed in turn 4 ending his night. The top 5 then were Jason Martin, Jack Dover, John Klabunde, Justin Jacobsma, and Shayle Bade (up 7 spots from starting 12th).
Jason Martin continued to the high side on the restart as Dover worked the low side. Martin continued to lead over Dover with 10 laps left as Shayle Bade made her way to fourth as Ryan Bickett moved to fifth. Lapped traffic came into play for Martin with 6 laps left as Dover tried to reel him in. It came down to the final lap when Jason Martin got caught up by lapped traffic, on the backstretch, and Martin went to the high side in turn 3. Dover dove down low and pulled a perfect slide job, in turn 4, and took the checkered flag for the win!
