Inside Line Promotions – WOODHULL, N.Y. (Aug. 28, 2019) – Joe Trenca posted his seventh top-five finish of the season last Saturday during a Patriot Sprints Tour race at Woodhull Raceway.
Trenca finished where he started – second – in a heat race to earn a spot into the feature redraw. Much like the story of his season thus far, the Mucci Motorsports driver pulled one of the deepest numbers to line up seventh for the A Main.
“Track position is critical no matter where you go or who you’re racing against,” he said. “We’ve pulled our fair share of sevens and other high numbers so hopefully it will even out and we can start drawing the front row in some races soon.”
Trenca quickly maneuvered into the top five and he maintained a spot there until finishing fifth. It marked his seventh top five of the season, which is the most he’s ever recorded in a single season.
“Our goal is to win races, but it’s always a positive to move forward and earn top fives,” he said. “I think that’s our third top five in as many races at Woodhull this year so it’s great to have the consistency there.”
Trenca remains second in the Patriot Sprint Tour championship standings – only 41 points out of the lead – heading into the next event, which is Sept. 6-7 at Land of Legends Raceway in Canandaigua, N.Y.
He will return to action next Monday at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y., with the Empire Super Sprints.
