The Warrior Sprint Car Series was treated to another wicked fast track Saturday night at EPCR, and the racers took to the challenge and put on an awesome show. Hathaway Performance heat races were won by Zac Taylor from Green River, Wyoming and Brett Ream from Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Taylor would roll a 6 on the invert placing Jeff Seesholtz from Fountain, Colorado on the pole and Ryan Riggs from Colorado Springs outside pole.
After driver introductions were made, Seesholtz was offered the Total Lending Concepts Front Row Challenge to start from the rear and win for an additional $150. Much to the crowds disappointment, Seesholtz turned down the offer but Riggs stepped up and took the challenge to gain some extra cash.
With Riggs moving to the rear, the #92 of Coby Pearce from Golden. Colorado slid up to the 2nd starting position on the grid, and that is where he would launch from to take his 3rd feature win of the year. Pearce raced to the #1 spot and lead all 20 laps but was dogged every lap by Zac Taylor.
Pearce and Taylor took to the cushion early on and set a blistering pace that was slowed by 2 cautions. Meanwhile a ragged battle for 3rd spot was being contested by Brett Ream, Brian Hardman of Golden, Colorado and Jesse Fernandez of Parker, Colorado.
In the closing laps it was Fernandez that made a daring 3 wide pass to solidify a 3rd place finish and garner him the Allstar Performance Hard Charger award.
Mark Bensenburg from Elicott, Colorado was awarded the Autozone Tough Luck award after his car expired in a cloud of steam on the front stretch.
The Warrior Sprint car Series returns to EPCR on September 28th to put on another action packed show for the fans of the series.
