Dusty Ballenger took the lead of Saturday’s Justice Fire and Safety Sprint Car feature on the 12th lap and would go on to his 22nd career win. In the Late Model Street Stock Legends, Rick VanderWeide topped the all-star field.
Trefer Waller led the early portion of the sprint feature. It was lap traffic that allowed Ballenger to close in and make the move to the top spot. A late race charge put John Lambertz in second ahead of Waller at the finish. Jared Jansen crossed fourth ahead of Elliot Amdahl.
In the LMSS Legends race – several drivers learned the cars are a bit more powerful than the old days and looped around. In the end, King of the Meadow Rick VanderWeide was in the winners circle. He held off Dan Jensen for the victory. Brad Wollman wrestled a third place finish ahead of Mike Ellingson and Paul Poncelet.
Matt Steuerwald returned to the winners circle for the 27th time of his career at I-90 Speedway. Craig Hanisch charged from row six to take second. Cory Yeigh was third ahead of Dave Kuchta and Tim Dann.
It was a charge from eleventh to the win for Tyler Tesch in the USRA B-Modified feature. In a great battle for second, Jared Nytroe took the spot by 0.001 seconds over Scott Kennedy. Dudley Schroeder Jr., was fourth with Trevor Tesch fifth.
Dustin Gulbrandson took his third win of the I-90 season in the hobby stocks. He entered the night second in national USRA points trailing Eric Stanton. Stanton placed second. Both those drivers started in row five. Nick Janssen, Levi VanderWeide (son of legends winner Rick) was fourth ahead of Tracy Halouska.
